I know that when people on here say stuff like "idk anything about guitars it just sounds cool" it's all jokes but if you are genuinely interested in music as an art form and not just a form of entertainment I am BEGGING you to work on your active listening skills because I promise it will make your experience a million times better and you will have an even deeper appreciation for the music you enjoy

Active listening (as described by my first semester tech teacher) is the practice of listening to music as a product of musicians- paying specific attention to what each instrument is doing, the ways in which it sounds different to other musicians and songs, the arrangement of the song, the effects on each track, etc. And you don't have to know all of the technical terms to do that! "It sounds like an old video game soundtrack played on vinyl" is just as much of a good description as "it uses a bitcrunch and a crackle distortion". It's a skill that takes time to build up, and you might find it hard at first to totally block out the vocal and listen to each track, but it eventually becomes second nature and will absolutely enhance how you listen to music.

that time when modern dangdut throws saxophone line for some sexy vibes? yeah I love it. it makes it feels somehow pretty cheesy but what's not cheesy these days? even 80s japanese jazz fusion is cheesy. I listen to Casiopea dude. I know what cheesy is (no I don't) and today saw a dangdut performance on tv and when I heard that strat guitar I was like 'holy shit' huh... turns out I do this regularly like when an album make two or more songs connected and me crying over basslines??? yeah I just remembered how Calvin Harris' Summer have fun basslines in the second verse and I like it also guitar line in second verse of Zedd's Stay the Night

you know what, that's okay. I know it can be hard to brush your teeth every day, or drink a glass of water. there's a big misconception that all of these tasks we do for maintenance are "easy", but that just isn't the case. taking care of your body is hard work, and I'm proud of you for any amount of self care that you're able to do.
